The topic for Serbian capital is empowering citizens and urban collectives. Our partner runs open call for local

NGOs who work with urban development. Together they will identify public spaces in need of improvement, develop participatory process for the commons and work with the community, authorities and stakeholders. The action plan ends with design interventions for the areas like public libraries or community gardens. The outcomes will be presented at the annual BINA festivals in Belgrade. Partners from the other countries Aliancia Stara Trznica, KUNSTrePUBLIK and Mindspace will prepare specialized workshops and urban games to implement during the public participatory process.

As the most basic supporting argument, let’s borrow the sociological metaphor of agency, or “free will”. Were human beings just biological automata, there wouldn’t be such a thing as the capacity of individuals to make free choice and to act independently.
